My baby turned 2 today

I am thrilled with the way my son has grown into such a great little boy, but I can't help but feel sad that these past two years have literally flown by. I know it sounds cliche, but it feels like just yesterday I was holding my brand new little baby. I remember all those nights of sleeping sitting up with him in my arms because the minute I put him down, he woke up. I remember just watching him sleep and being in awe that he was actually here and acutally ours. I still like to watch him sleep and I am still in awe that he is here.

For the past year, everyone has told me that he is no longer a baby and I told them that when he turned two he could pass over into toddlerhood. Well, he is two, but he will ALWAYS be my baby. Happy Birthday my sweet baby boy. Mommy loves you more than you could ever know.

We had a train party during playgroup this morning. He LOVES Thomas the Tank Engine, so we based it around that. We rented a train that took the kids around the neighborhood. N wasn't too sure of it at first (and even cried), but he had a blast once it got going. Then, we all came inside and the kids painted wooden trains. It wasn't as messy as I thought it was going to be! ;)

I think that Nathan's favorite part was his "Happy Cake". He couldn't wait to dig into it, and I even caught him sneaking little finger fulls of the icing. He loved it when everyone started singing happy birthday to him and sat there with a huge smile on his face. He even did a great job of blowing out his candles at the perfect moment.

It really was a great birthday, except that now my little one is in bed with a fever. I guess there was too much excitement today!

New Key

We went and had an extra key made for our house and Nathan saw a SpiderMan key that he just had to have. My boy is obsessed with keys, so I had to get it for him. The whole way home he was telling me all the things that the key would open. The minute we walked through the door, he went straight to his house and stuck it in all the holes. It was the cutest thing.

My Sweet Baby

As I get closer to the due date of little Ella/Emma/Anna/Lily, I can't help but feel a little sad for my first baby. His whole world is going to turn upside down, but I am trying to remember that I am giving him the best gift ever--a sibling, a forever friend.

Here are a few pictures of my silly monkey from this afternoon.

Baby Shower

The women in our playgroup threw me an amazing baby shower Friday morning. I am really going to miss this them all the time when we move and I know that Nathan will too. It amazes me how much little N has changed with the group over the past few months. It makes me tear up just thinking about moving him away. He is actually interacting and playing with the other kids. He says their names and even enjoys playing with the new babies of the group. We'll come back and visit a lot, but it won't be the same. They really are an amazing group of friends.

In other news, my parents and Rach came over yesterday to get our house packed up and ready. If all goes according to plan, we should have our house on the market in the next two weeks. We shall see. Garett and I still have a lot of decluttering to do and have to move some stuff into storage. Since G doesn't get home until really late every night, we don't have much time to do it during the week. I am ready to move to Lufkin so that we can spend more time with G, but I also don't want to leave Kingwood and our friends.

Garett's First Week of Work

We are done with Garett's first week of work and we are quickly realizing that we need to move, and fast!!! This drive is killing all of us. Little N is missing his daddy so much and runs to kiss him everytime we hear Garett turn the key in the door. It really melts my heart and makes me sad that Garett isn't able to be home more often. So, putting our house on the market is number one priority right now. Anyone know someone who wants to buy a house in Kingwood? ;)

I'm working on N's second birthday party details right now and think that I have his invitations almost done. They are precious and I will share them with you as soon as I finish. In the meantime, here is the picture that I am using. I took about 30 pictures of him today and this was the best one I could get of him smiling. I had to work hard for that smile, too! His party is going to be so much fun! We are going with a train theme and acutally renting a trackless train to take the kids around the neighborhood. He is going to LOVE it!

And here is the look that I mostly got from him.

4D ultrasound

My mom and Rachel went with Nathan and me last week to get a 4D ultrasound of little Ella/Emma/Anna/Lily and it was amazing! We tried to do it when we were pg with Nathan and it never really worked out because he hid his face the entire time. She was a bit shy, but she still showed us half of her face. Here is a picture of Nathan's "Baby Emma". I think that she looks a whole lot like Nathan when he was a newborn!
