6 months

How can it be possible that my baby girl is already 6 months old? It seems as if she has been a part of our family forever, but at the same time it seems like she was just a tiny newborn cuddled up in my arms.

Emma Baby you mean the world to me and I love you with all my heart. I adore watching you sleep, watching you play with your brother, listening to your coos and belly laughs, and watching you discover the world around you.

This month has been so much fun. You really are realizing that so much is going on around you and you are just itching to be a part of it. Your eyes never leave Nathan and he can make you laugh like nobody's business. You reach for him and anything that you can find.

We began feeding you solids week before last and oh my do you love that! In fact, you insist on feeding yourself! Your dinner usually ends in tears because I just have to take the spoon away to get more food for you. So far you have had pears, applesauce and cereal. You only like the cereal mixed with the babyfood. That's ok, though. Your big bubba was the same way.

You are rolling over more and more. I think you will be crawling pretty soon because you can already scoot some. You are also learning to sit up. Yesterday you sat up for a full 30 seconds before you toppled over. Don't worry! I will always be there to catch you.

Your eyes have not totally turned brown yet, but I think they are getting there! You still have your mohawk, but it is starting to tame down a bit. I miss it! I really think that you look a bit like your Uncle Jason, especially in this picture.

These past 6 months have been a blast with you, my little Morning Glory, and I cannot wait to see what the next 6 hold for you. I love you dearly.

Etsy

Have I mentioned before how much I love Etsy? I could spend all of our money there if Garett would let me. It is so hard to control myself when I see so many cute things that Emma and Nathan have to have!

For example, are these not the cutest shoes from Laura'sLoft???

And then I couldn't help myself with these little hair clips. I just bought three of them!

Anyway, I could go on and on. If you haven't checked out Etsy before, try it out. You'll become addicted!

Five on Friday

I haven't done Ten on Tuesday in a while, so I thought I would do Five on Friday! It is much easier to come up with 5 things than 10!

1. I love the conversation that N and I had the other day. It went a little something like this:

Me: I need to go tell Ellie to stop barking.
N: But, why? She LIKES to bark. She wags her tail. She LOVES to bark.

I thought that was super cute. He is right, though. Ellie does love to bark.

2. Emma was sick for the first time in her little life this past week. Nathan was sick the week before. It is always heartbreaking to have a sick baby. Luckily, Emma's only lasted a couple of days and now they are both doing good.

3. The kids were laying on the playroom rug yesterday morning and Emma was just talking to Nathan and reaching for him. She only has eyes for her big bubba. Love that!

4. We went to the library this morning with our new friends Erin and Kendall. We missed library time last week, so I didn't know that we were supposed to bring a Teddy Bear with us. Our kids were the only ones who didn't have a Teddy Bear for the Teddy Bear picnic. I felt bad, but N and Kendall didn't seem to notice. Oh well.

5. I want a change for my hair. I have had the same hair for a while now and I am itching for something different. I think I am going to cut it shorter and color it. I'll be sure to post pictures when I do!

The Anatomy of a Mohawk

As I've said before, my daughter was blessed with a mohawk and I love it! I think our whole family loves it, even though Nathan tries to hold it down with his hands sometimes. It is just her--full of spunk, character and determination, very strong willed.

Just as I thought the mohawk was beginning to tame down, it showed itself this morning in full glory. Maybe this is one last hoorah before it goes down forever. Who knows!

Here Comes Bunny CottonTail

I realized that I never blogged about Easter! I love being a mom of two (and can't wait to be a mom of three and four and whoever knows how many more one day), but I swear I don't know where all the days go! I'm living in mommytime here, which is at warp speed.

Anyway, Easter...we drove down to Houston on Friday and paid a visit to our old house-a drive by visit. It was so weird to see someone else's car in our driveway. I felt like screaming, "Get our of my house," but instead sighed and moved on. Another chapter in life closed.

After that, we drove down to my parents' house and spent the weekend there. I was even able to get out for a couple hours with just my mom and go shopping. I didn't know what to do! I usually have Emma in her sling and Nathan in the basket or walking next to me. It was a little relaxing! Nathan and Daddy went to visit JuJu and Grampy for a bit on Saturday, too!

Saturday night we dyed eggs, and let me tell you, N had a BLAST doing that. He thought it was a little weird that we were going to paint eggs and not crack them, but he was up for anything. By the end, he was dying and redying the eggs. He did not want to stop! The kid's hands were black for sometime after that from all the dye! The Easter Bunny also made a quick visit and left N and Ems a little Easter egg and 'The Night Before Easter Book" out on the lawn. How eggciting!

Sunday, that tricky old Easter Bunny hid Nathan and Emma's baskets full of goodies. Luckily, N found both of them and he was amazed. It was hard for him to get through all the stuff. He kept wanting to play with whatever he took out or things in Rachel's basket. The Easter Bunny even left a few eggs outside for munchkin man to find--spiderman eggs!

Then, we headed off to Uncle Jason and Aunt Anne's house for dinner and for an Easter egg hunt. The big dirt pile was still there, so of course that was the first and only thing that Nathan wanted to do. The boy was covered in dirt and dye when we brought him home.

Little Ems enjoyed her first Easter, too. She let everyone hold her and really loved just watching everyone.

I have so many more pictures to post, but not enough time right now!

Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Pirate's Life for Me! YAAARRR!

Oldies but goodies!

Nap Strike, part 2

I was planning on doing an Easter post today, but this trumps my Easter pictures by far.

If you remember back to THIS post, you'll know that my son often goes on a nap strike. Well, right now the reason for the strike is because he is sick and because, well, he is two. He hasn't napped well the past few days because of all the traveling and fun we had for Easter and because he has some sort of cold like thing going on.

So, he was beyond cranky just now and I was trying to get him to go down for a nap. It just wasn't happening. In fact, the tried to run me over with his Batmobile because he was so mad about the nap. Anyway, so I left him in the living room while I was putting Emma to sleep. I notice it is real quiet in the living room, so I tiptoe out there, and this is what I find.

Right where I left him. That is where he hid from me so he wouldn't have to take a nap. So, being the good mama that I am, I ran straight for my camera. This pictures are as priceless and they are hilarious.

Round 2 goes to mommy!

Friday Fun

So, we are slowly adjusting to Lufkin and living in a small town. I told myself that we were going to get to know Lufkin and everything it has to offer this week. So, on Monday morning, we woke up early, piled in the car and headed over to the zoo. Much to my surprise it was a great zoo--I actually like it better than the Houston Zoo! It isbeautiful in there, with waterfalls, stone benches carved like animals, a train that circles the big lake and the zoo, and tons of trees and plants. I really, really liked it. I can see us going there a few times a month. N seemed to really enjoy it, too. We saw all the animals from Diego, which he thought was cool. The one thing he didn't like were the millions of peacocks that were running loose there. Seriously, there were a ton.

We also ventured out to one of the city parks, which was also surprisingly nice. They even have one of those water pad things that they turn on during the summer. I can see us hanging out there a lot!

We went to the zoo this morning with a woman and her daughter that we met in our neighborhood. They seem really nice and we're going to start a playgroup with a few of her friends. I am pretty excited about that.

N, E, and I have spent a lot of time outside this week just because it has been so beautiful and partly because I locked myself out of the house yesterday. Oops! Luckily, Garett works close enough to be able to come home to our rescue!!

What is a post without a few pictures???!!! Here are my two Bugaboos.
